Masa's gardens are pure poetry. I say gardens because the first was so enchanting that I asked him to design two additional gardens. Each is a four-fold poem with each season bringing new beauties and delights. He has taken the most impossible spaces and transformed them into worlds of wonder. He particularly loves the challenge of What-Is-There. He delights in brining out the beauty in what has gone unnoticed. His aesthetic sensibility and creativity are of the highest order. He is a great artist.

We first Saw Masa's Talent exhibited at the Portland Flower Show in 1999 and knew instantly that he would be able to interpret our ideas, transforming them into the serene environment we were looking for. His design drawings confirmed this feeling. Masa stunned us with his beautiful drawings, which turned our vague ideas into something real. Masa Seko has designed and built a marvelous garden landscape that transforms a bit of New Hampshire into an aesthetically perfect Japanese garden. Incorporating beauty, peace, serenity, balance and sense of soul. Masa understands that unspoken feelings of his clients and transforms them into an oasis of balance and beauty.

Harmony and peace are the best words to describe Masa Seko's artistry. He has the exceptional ability to make magic out of irregular areas and enhance nature to it's best. Until my gardens were completed, I did not realize that I would have four distinct gardens-- one for each season. The combining of natural elements with a Japanese influence is truly Masa's gift. Time spent walking through his gardens is time spent in peace and harmony.

Watching Masa Seko develop our Japanese garden was fascinating. From his careful study of our terrain and views, to the placement of stones and plants using innovative Japanese techniques, his creation of our tea garden was an artistically inspired and thoughtful process. When his work was complete Masa left us with an exquisitely designed and meticulously executed garden. It has become a focus of beauty and serenity in our lives.

Masa Seko is not only a masterful designer of Japanese gardens; he is also an artist in the truest sense. His tools are stones, plants, water, shadows, sounds, and soil. Out of these elements he sculpts gardens which are spiritual places resonant with meaning and aesthetic pleasure. His unique talents offer a refreshing alternative to the landscape design traditions of New England. His gardens are quiet miracles, elegant Japanese gifts inflected upon American earth.

We were overwhelmed by Masa's artistry. Though we knew it would be beautiful after seeing his drawings, it was not until seeing it in three dimensions that we came to fully appreciate the interrelationship of the diverse elements. We enjoyed having Masa explain and include us in the garden design process. Masa Seko has given us a beautiful place for contemplation and peace.

At the horticultural show, I stopped dead in my tracks beside his Japanese stone garden. I hired him. I trusted the professionalism of the person for the Japanese, the garden is an aesthetic. Masa Seko wants people to understand the soul of gardening.
